HZ410 Satellite to Terrestrial Transceiver
The Newtec Horizon Series HZ410 is a professional Satellite to Terrestrial Transceiver used in mobile and terrestrial television networks where the content is distributed to the transmission towers via satellite.
The HZ410 integrates a satellite demodulator, a DVB-S/S2 filtering module, an interface card with multiple ASI and IP outputs and a DVB-T/DVB-H COFDM modulator.
The HZ410 transceivers are compact units to be installed in each of the remote transmission towers. Each transceiver unit integrates all the building blocks necessary to receive one satellite carrier transporting one or several television multiplexes, extract one or several television multiplexes from this carrier, synchronize one of these multiplexes with other transmission towers (for SFN operation) and modulate this signal to be transmitted terrestrially to the set-top boxes or mobile handsets. A second multiplex can be made available on the second (LP) input of the terrestrial modulator while additional multiplexes extracted from the satellite carrier can be distributed by the HZ410 to external terrestrial modulators via ASI or IP.
The HZ410 offers the possibility to work in Multistream mode, an advanced feature of the DVB-S2 standard. This technology allows the operator to distribute multiple multiplexes on the same satellite carrier. This Multistream functionality does not effect the content of the multiplexes and is therefore fully compatible with SFN operation. Unlike multiple carrier configurations, this mode of satellite transmission allows operating near transponder saturation and therefore optimizes the bandwidth efficiency.
